 Stereo Rackmounting Solid State Recorder/Replayer
The unique UR-2 is a new generation stereo solid state sound recorder from Fostex in a 1U rack size and it uses both SD (SDHC) cards (2 SD card slots are provided) and USB storage sticks. This provides the ultimate in flexibly for both recording and playback.
The UR-2 offers high quality recording of up to 24bit/96kHz in BWF (WAV) format, and a variety of playback functions are provided, including Chain Play and Timer Play, making it suitable for live stage performance, broadcast and a host of sound installation applications.
The UR-2's analogue input and output are via balanced XLR/+4dBu and unbalanced RCA Phono/-10dBV interfacing is also available. Digital i/o complies to AES/EBU and S/PDIF standards. In addition to external control via parallel remote (D-Sub 25pin) and RS-232C serial remote, a USB keyboard and 10-key keyboard can trigger instant playback starts.
The UR-2's microphone input located on the front panel offers 48V phantom power, and it can be used not only for recording but also for speech (voice-over) mixed with any of the playback cards. A newly developed organic EL display gives an extremely clear visibility, and the whole package is very easy and responsive to use. | *We do not advise using the larger cards unless absolutely necessary because you will lose a huge amount of valuable data if the card is physically mislaid (quite easy because they are very small!) or should the card become corrupted (rare, but it can happen). Far better to use the smallest practical card size for your needs (usually 2Gb or 4Gb), and just buy several of them to interchange. Much, much safer! |
